help finding someone please
« on: Friday 08 July 16 22:54 BST (UK) »
I have a ann c  moore who married george barton in Bolton in 1864
Anns parents were Daniel and Martha
Anns birth place is at sea in 1851 and 1861 census  born 1844
George divorced ann in 1876 for a affair that she was having with john harris - this all happened in lancashire
In the newspaper report of the divorce it said thar ann and john were living as men and wife with twins at the time of the divorce
I cant find ann in 1881 or 1891 i think i have her death in bolton in 1893 - Ann Columbia barton aged 49
Possibly she could be in prision in 1881 as there is a annie Barton born 1844 at sea on the british ship Colombus
But where are the twins they are not with john as he went on to marry and there is no sign of children
If this is her in the 1881 census how do i find out what she did and how long did she stay in prison
And why would she of been born at sea???? Her family for generations were from lancashire

Sorry so many questions.....
Cheers meggles

She was born 1843 - and  was baptised on dry land, anyway:

http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/Bolton-le-Moors/Great-Bolton/peterpaul/baptisms_1842-1844.html
18 Jun 1843 at St Peter & St Paul Roman Catholic Church, Bolton, Lancs.
Ann Columbia MOORE, Born: 6 Jun 1843
Parents: of Danl. MOORE & Martha (formerly BUCK)
Godparents: Thos. Moore,  Maria Moore

You said John HARRIS married -  When and where was that?

Could you point us to the Ann BARTON on the ship Columbus?

Hi Keyboard86

Ann's POB in 1871 says: "On the Atlantic Ocean". And she has an occupation too: Milliner.

The daughter's name  from the various records works out to:  Annie Louisa Catherine BARTON.

Actually the 1851 Census also says Ann was born "on the Atlantic".
Father Daniel is a "Mechanic".

Daniel MOORE and Martha BUCK got married  Jun Qtr 1842 (FreeBMD).
And it looks like pretty soon after that they set off for the Americas - perhaps for a new life, perhaps temporarily.

Here they are:
Arrived New York, 11 Aug 1842 on the ship "Metoka"
Daniel MOORE 22, Mechanic
Mrs Martha MOORE 22 "
Ellinor KITTS 23, Servant
They've been bracketed together as the three of them.
All from England.
All going to New York.

I'd hazard a guess that Ann was 'made in Columbia, New York".  Or she ship they came home on (that she was born on) was the "Columbia" ? They wouldn't be the first immigrants to be disillusioned or homesick, and decide to come back home  :)

Cheers
