Kearns family in Monaghan
« on: Monday 11 July 16 11:17 BST (UK) »
William Kearns, birth date 25 March 1879 according to my mother, has a place of birth in the 1901 census as Manchester, in the 1911 census it says St Helens in Lancashire, where he was living, but the family says he told them he was born near Castleblaney in Monaghan. I can find no record of his birth in either English or Irish sources. Any suggestions gratefully received.

What were the names of his parents? or at least father's name and occupation from his marriage certificate?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Father's name is John, and at the time of the wedding he was dead according to the certificate. Occupation is given as train guard as was William. By the 1901 census he is a miner in one of the St Helens pits.
