If a person has been dead 12 years, their record will eventually open up.

FindMyPast are going through the death registrations and matching them up. My auntie, who died (registered under her married name) in 2000, is already visible. Of course, they may have started with surnames beginning "A". :)
Looking at ALSTON in south Ribble area, ALSTEAD and DONBAVAND/DUNBABIN etc. everywhere, HOWCROFT and MARSH in Bolton and Westhoughton, PICKERING in the Whitehaven area.
