Hello there,
Does anyone please know if the admission records for The Union Workhouse Lincoln, can be accessed on line please? And if so how and where please?
I am trying to find the record of one of my 2x Great Grandma's Elizabeth Hall, entering there. Elizabeth was born around 1861. She must have entered into that Workhouse, sometime between 1888-1890. In 1888 she had a Daughter called Rose, in Bury St. Edmunds. In January 1890, Catherine Hall, one of her other Daughter's, was born in the Workhouse in Lincoln.
Apart from Rose, her other children that Elizabeth would have entered the Workhouse with would have been:
George Hall (Born in Lydney, Gloucester, in 1880)
William Hall (Born Belper, Derbyshire in 1882)
John Hall - My Great Grandad (Born Stamford, Lincolnshire in 1885)
Elizabeth Hall (Born around 1886/7 in Grantham, Lincolnshire)
All of these Children were born "out of wedlock". On the 1891 Census, she is listed as being single.
Elizabeth Married William Wheatcroft, in the Union Workhouse, Lincoln, on the seventh of January 1892. On the Marriage Certificate she is listed as a: "Spinster". All that I know about, who may have been the Father of these children is that his name "may" have been John somebody, and was a Labourer/ Sawyer. But whoever he was, he certainly travelled around quite a bit, haha!
That is one of the reasons why I would like to see the Workhouse records also, because there may be a slim chance that he could have been with them.
Anyway, if anyone could be of assistance regarding these Workhouse entry registers, it would be much appreciated. I am going on holiday for a week from tomorrow afternoon, so won't be able to come on here for a week after that though.
Thank you.
