No deaths that I could find so may of gone to Ireland before going to USA and died there.

You would need to check those births to see if they are correct.

Does your friend have emigration details?
Do you have Owen in USA?

I just saw Owen in 1881  4940/36/18 written and transcribed as Murphey.
1871 4954/5/4

How does your friend know of the connections to those Irish places?

She is related somewhere to one of Owens children and they are in Pensylvannia  and is dead .From what she knows she says its hardly nothing not really spoken about.but apparently there has been different stories going round the families could be a bigamist,married 3 x she just wants to find the truth

I suppose she would need to go back in censuses for him and check his marriages.
At the moment I can't see his parents or siblings after 1871 so perhaps they all emigrated.

Is the ships manifest written as they arrive on board or before they dock?
Could Mary have died on the ship?, might be worth checking out the rest of the manifest to see if there was any on board deaths.
