Willet. Portsmouth ....?
« on: Friday 22 July 16 00:06 BST (UK) »
I know we're not allowed to put personal stuff on living people. So ..... Mods? Would it be acceptable for me to simply ask after an old mate, of that surname. Probably just about got his bus pass by now.

Anyone thinks they might have a clue is most welcome to PM me  :)

Apart from the fact that he was just a bloody good bloke, and I still think well of him, after thirty years. I actually have a genuine, genealogical side line that he may be able to shine some light on.

Have you tried a basic search on  www.192.com?

A long shot (but it worked for my dad some years ago)......a letter to the local newspaper.

PM also sent.

:) Thanks to Jan and Claire, for the helpful PM's.

I now strongly suspect we have my man. We have the road, which I've just looked at on Google Earth. Looks perfect. Age range given was 60 - 64. Sounds spot on!

Only bugger is; No house number!  :( So, I can't pop a note in the post. And, obviously, he's not in the phone book ~ who is, these days?

I think this calls for a Freddie (It's alright, Nel. He's no longer living  ;D)

I'd still try the letter route; both to the local newspaper and to the address, postmen have a  history of getting mail to the right person even with a vague address.....might take a bit longer though.

A local radio station might also be helpful.
