1793, June 15. Joseph Storrey in this parish and Margt Stirling in the Parish of New Monkland to be proclaimed on the three following Sabbaths. [Old Monkland Parish Register]
Is this Joseph Storrey the one who was a baker in Langloan, son of John Stor(r)i/e(y) of Braco and Elizabeth Howie?
Is Margaret the sister of Andrew Stirling of Drumpellier, who in 1795 leased to Joseph Stor(r)i/e(y)
37 falls of land bounded on the north by the Toll Road between Glasgow and Edinburgh by Airdrie and on the south by the middle of Langloan Burn and Langloan Mill Dam, being part of the lands of Langloan, Parish of Old Monkland. ?
Or is it just coincidence that Andrew Stirling leased land to someone whose wife's surname was the same as his, just a couple of years after the lady's marriage?
Andrew Stirling did have a sister Margaret, born 1761 in Glasgow, but none of the online genealogies I found of the family of their father William Stirling mentions Margaret or indeed their younger brothers George and William. Some of these genealogies only mention two or three of William's family of 12 children.
Are there any early 19th century MIs in Old Monkland that I could try for an MI of Joseph Stor(r)i/ey) and Margaret Stirling?
Any other thoughts?
