Could anyone suggest ages for these children, and give an approximate date for the photograph?

From the left of screen I would say 3, 2 and 4 or each a bit younger

Guess for the date of the photo of around 1910 but not at all certain

Just love this photo - the ways the boys are sitting, looking so much like relaxed little men!

Gorgeous.  ;D

I would say c1914 and ages L to R 5;2/3;6 . I do find it difficult to assess ages, unless I know the subjects/family, therefore age differences between the children. I have a couple of 'trio' photos from
1914 -1919 with similar footwear.

The children on my avatar was helpfully dated 1919 on the back,so from this...my Dad would have been 8 and his sisters aged 12 and 3 (depending on the time of year it was taken)

I have a picture of my father about 10 putting it mid to late 1920s with the same boots. Boots like that may have been around for many years. The clothing may help you more.

The boy on the right about 2 yrs older than boy on the left as he's quite a bit taller - feet on the floor as the youngest boy has dangling legs. Girl 2-3 yrs old. Boy on right up to 7 yrs.

I will say girl 3, boy left 5 and boy right 7. :)

EDIT
Just had a look at fashion for young girls and the shape of bottom of the dress seems to be in fashion between 1915 and 1920. There is also a note about sock length. Knee highs were 1915 getting shorter to ankle socks by 1920. Taking that all together about 1918/19.

The woollen jerkins the boys are wearing became popular towards the end of the Edwardian Era however the girls dropped waist appeared around the start of WW1 so I would suggest this was taken during the war years.

Thank you for your suggestions regarding the ages of the children and the date of the photograph.  Also your kind comments Jaybeinz regarding the photograph.

Jim, what never ceases to amaze me, is your knowledge regarding the dating of fashions.  As a result of that, I am able to age the photograph to a specific time period.

Your input Pat was invaluable, and Carolli, the dating of your Avatar confirmed everything.

Thank you all again.
