Registry Office Marriage in Perth
« on: Saturday 13 August 16 12:25 BST (UK) »
I am looking for a record of a marriage in early 1930s.

There is nothing on Scotlandspeople and I have reason to believe the marriage would have taken place in a registry office.

I have the date, married Perth, the groom, and bride (query surname).  Both now deceased.
Children of this marriage are deceased.
Grandchildren still living so cannot post names.

Where can I apply for a record (certificate?).

Many thanks

Have you tried the register office in Perth ? I would have thought there would have been a record on Scotland People as I have had family members married in a register office and record shown on Scotland's people ..Have you tried just putting forenames in and leaving surname blank ?

Hi Ceeoh

If it helps, you can add the names here and others can try searching too.

Registry office marriages did not start in Scotland until 1939 before then the rough equivalent would have been a declaration of marriage in front of witnesses which could then be inserted into the Register after a Sherriffs Warrant was taken out instructing the Registrar to add it (roughly). I have come across this type of marriage being registered in another district from the one the parties lived in. You usually find the address is the lawyers office who dealt with the warrant.

Rosie - have tried various combinations of forenames and surnames.  Nothing that fits.

Monica - prefer not to mention family names on board.

Eric - this was pre 1939

Gadget - have sent you a PM

Many thanks

Added - Ceeoh, I think you might have put in too much info. I put in the male surname, with trad soundex, 1930 - 1937, Perth.
