Birth of William Baker, circa 1790
« on: Sunday 14 August 16 20:18 BST (UK) »
I am looking for the birth of William Baker, circa 1790 (censuses are consistent in implying 1791; age at death registration implies 1790). Probably to nonconformist parents. Censuses vary between saying Brede and Peasmarsh; but his wife was from Peasmarsh and I think they just got transposed in one - so almost certainly Brede.

Any help on this one very much appreciated  :)

This will not be easy as there are dozens of William Bakers on the SFHG baptism index!
One baptised Peasmarsh 26 Sep 1785 to Thomas and Mary.
Nothing in Brede for the right time frame though if he is the one who married Ann Baker their children are baptised there.

OK Sillgen thanks for that info.

He married Hannah Lancaster at Wittersham on 16 June 1817, and their children were baptized at Tenterden Weslyan Methodist church - although there is a possibility of one additional child, Martha, born about 1823 who does not appear to have been baptized there. It is all very bewildering - there was a Martha Baker baptized in Tenterden Weslyan Methodist in 1821, but SHE was the daughter of Isaac and Hannah.

Anyway, this may be one to shelve for now and come back to later ...
