I can see how it could be Hanover.

The H doesn't match the other two capital H though does it?

Hi there,

Have you considered writing to the Church authorities for the denomination of the clergyman who conducted the ceremony, to see if they have any further details or perhaps a better copy from the parish records?

Or, did he seek naturalisation?  If so, on those papers, what detailed information did he supply (place of birth, date of birth, ship of arrival, current family, etc)

His naturalisation is on National Records. Good call, JM.

Looks like Bremen

He arrived on the Castleholm 14 April 1876 and was a farmer.

He was born in Bremen, unless there are two of him in Victoria.

I'm presently looking at a scanned copy of the original Naturalisation document dated 24 February 1894, on the government website.
