Patrick McLean in Kilwinning
« on: Monday 15 August 16 23:18 BST (UK) »
I posted 4 years ago now about my ancestor Patrick McLean who lived and died in Kilwinning but was born in Ireland. I cannot find anything about where in Ireland he came from and I would like to find out. His death certificate doesn't have parents names or place of birth other than Ireland. He was married to Rosanna Mclindon/Macillindon. I have found him aged 67 in the Poor Relief database for Ayrshire but there are no details, just a film number and I don't know what that refers to. Any help gratefully received.

Thank you. Yes I can find him on censuses but they all say he is from Ireland with nothing more specific

Why don't you follow through and see what the records held for him actually show? See www.ayrshire-roots.co.uk/obtain.php From what you mention you have for him so far, your best bet in respect of trying to find out where in Ireland he was from is likely to be his PR application and documents.
