Emerald Museum http://www.emeraldmuseum.org.au/
They have some interesting photographs (can't see one of the Cascades but they say they have lots more) and invite family history enquiries.

I really appreciate all you have done I'm having an eye op next Tuesday so you have saved me a great deal of looking through reams of data

On a different line please can you tell me what T.L or it may be S.L stands for in the column headed RANK on a Tasmanian marriage record in 1845 the next marriage on the page has Free in the same column
Many thanks

I wonder if T.L. could stand for Ticket of Leave, was he a transported convict?

I'm sure some of the Aussie experts will know more than I do.

Perfect yes both were transported convicts
on a similar note I have another transported Lifer who was said to be a free man just less than 5 years atfer arriving in Tasmania. Is this a usual time to earn freedom? Sadly he was killed in an accident with a horse and dray its his inquest that mentions him being a free man
many thanks for the good wishes can't say i'm looking forward to it but can't wait to see better either :)
