Interesting links there. The map is making me wonder if a merchant ship could have docked there.  I see there are quite a few Gilmours around Mount Charles and I've also done a name search on his mother's maiden name Bonar.  There were quite a few Bonars on his mother side I never traced much after the 1841 census in her birth place of Edinburgh.

Aren't the GROs being released on line shortly? They might help for possible family connections in Donegal. I'd like to think that little Alexander made it back to Glasgow for burial along with his grandfather and great grandfather at the Cathedral in Glasgow. There's at least 4 adults and 3 children already recorded in the plot.

Scotlandespeople are meant to be releasing new material. I don't know whether it might be post 1855 burial details for non Catholics, but I did hear a rumour it might be the Scottish Poor Law records.  Will just have to wait and see. Thank you so very much for your help.

GRO release tomorrow!!

Like the Census, it has been on and off while they ran checks, hopefully it is now up and running permanently.

Can't wait to see the GROs. Wish Scotland would take a leaf out the Irish book and post their GROs for free too. I would be in genealogy heaven then  :)

Once again those that might be trying to help have absolutely no idea what additional information is being sent to OP. The whole idea of Rootschat is to share information and help others. Unless the information involves living people, email or contact details or personal information/details of a very sensitive nature there's no reason to send so much by PM.
