Evans, Yarraville, Victoria
« on: Thursday 15 September 16 12:54 BST (UK) »
Hi, my great uncle ***** Evans emigrated to Australia in 1950 with his wife Gladys and son ****. ****** mum Grace (my Great Grandmother) joined them in 1963 - she died in 1969. I have the death certificate. They lived at 1 Hughes Street, Yarraville. I cannot find anything after 1980 (electoral roll) for ***** and nothing at all for **** jnr - he must have died young. **** and Gladys split up and Gladys died in 1972 (then White). I want to know what happened to **** snr after 1980. Thanks for any help. (this is my first post on here  :)

Welcome to Rootschat.

You may want to have this moved to the Austarlia board. To do this click on the 'report to moderator button' and request the move.

Also, RC policy states that you are unable to mention names of the living on this site. You will need to remove names of those you do not know to be deceased.

I could not see a death registration for a Grace Evans in 1969 in Victoria.

Your post is fine now.  You are not going to find much publically available information.  Death indexes in Victoria stop at 1988 and marriages in 1942.  Online electoral rolls go to 1980.  I cannot see a death there for the son up to 1988.

https://online.justice.vic.gov.au/bdm/indexsearch.doj

There are some burials/cremations here with a couple being about the right age but they all have middle names.

http://stk.smct.org.au/deceased-search-m/

Each State keeps separate records so if they moved it may be difficult to find them.

There is a death notice indexed here for Gladys Cavell WHITE:

http://ryersonindex.org/search.php

From this page you can request a look up of the notice which might mention her son:

Did Gladys die in Victoria?
If so, which of these two deaths in 1872 is correct.

Reg  8683

WHITE  Gladys May

Hi clayto63.
As I am sure you know, Mr EVANS re-partnered (possibly married).

Do you have the interment details of the new partner. The information is readily available with the interment being at Altona Memorial Park.
I do not see a record at Altona Memorial Park for Mr EVANS
http://www.gmct.com.au/deceased-search.aspx

Her death notice does not mention Mr EVANS.
Do you have it?

Hi Sue,
Thanks for the info. Both Mr Evans and his wife Gladys went on to re-marry(or at least take their partners name). Gladys became White with JW White and Mr Evans met an Irene Meyers who died in 2002. I have all their details - just not Mr Evans - I have him up until 1980 living in Hughes Street. It's really strange that nothing is recorded after 1988 - why is that? He must have passed away - or he is 105 years old somewhere!...and how do you find out this information?
