Date for the Rev. H Rowe

I would be very grateful if you knowledgeable folk could have a go at dating this postcard - I am wondering whether the photo of the Rev. Rowe is older than the postcard's printed date (does that make sense?  Essentially, I think the postcard must date to the early 20th century, but I'm wondering if the photo dates to the 19th century?)

The card is 1905 give or take a couple of years. There's no indication this is a reprint of an earlier photo.
