Attestation Papers for Charles William Read - date of birth listed is different to yours in the original post - 13 April 1898 - Next of kin - Mes George Farrow. 214 Van Horn Street Toronto - occupation engineer.

Hi Sandra, it's the same date but 2 years out-perhaps his original baptism record was incorrect or misrecorded?

More likely he lied on his Attestation Papers because he was underage. The dates listed on page 1 are April 1916 which would have made him 16.

Yes Sandra that would account for the age difference, they did a lot of that too here enlisting when they were as young as 14!
