help please with 1851 Census around the Snaith/Rawcliffe area
« on: Monday 03 October 16 20:51 BST (UK) »
Please can anyone help me?

I'm trying to locate 3 siblings on the 1851 Census, around the Snaith/Rawcliffe area:
Hannah Maria Isle(s)   School mistress    bap 1785  Whitgift
Jane Isle(s) Dressmaker   bap  1792 Whitgift  and their brother
George Isle(s)  Waterman  bap 1789  Whitgift
I think that the two sisters would probably be living together (they never married), around the Snaith/Rawcliffe area, but with George being a Waterman, he might be further afield; he is not with his family, so presumably, he is working elsewhere.
NB I think that the surname might be causing problems, as it has many variations inc Aisles, Eyles etc.

I'd really appreciate any help with this,

Thanks,

Kit

Were they all definitely still alive in 1851?  I mean have you got them all located in 1861 somewhere?

A possibility for 1851
Hannah Mariah Isale, b 1785 Little Reedness, residing at Drax
Jane Isale, sister, b 1792 little Reedness

Can't give anymore details as Familysearch is 'playing up'

Hi Milliepede, Bee and jennifer c

Thanks for your very kind replies - I really do appreciate them.

Yes, I think that that is the 2 sisters in Drax (on the 1841 Hannah Maria is described as being a School mistress). I simply could not find them on the 1851- I tried all sorts of variations for the family name, but Isale is a new one on me!

You have been fantastic,

Thank you all very much,

Kit

Looks like Grace Isles may have married in Goole in January 1856, the other party is missing from the index.
