John Buckland born in Hurley, Berkshire abt 1803
« on: Tuesday 04 October 16 07:41 BST (UK) »
I'm looking for the parents of John Buckland, born in Hurley in about 1803. He later married Mary Beasely at Eton in 1825.

Thanks, Skull

Family Search has them actually marrying in the parish of Farnham Royal 27 May 1825.

Where did you find Hurley as John's birthplace? If it was from the censuses, I see that the 1851 census actually gives his birthplace as Earley, Oxfordshire but the 1861 and 1871 have Hurley, Berkshire!! The only Earley I can see in Oxon is an area of Witney; whereas the Earley in Berks is near Reading (now a suburb of Reading).

All probably down to cloth-eared census enumerators but which is correct?

Very puzzling!
HELP!!!

 BATHSHEBA BOOTHROYD bn c. 1802 W. Yorks.

Baptism nowhere to be found. Possibly in a nonconformist church near ALMONDBURY or HUDDERSFIELD.

Yes, this is also the conclusion that I came to. What is more puzzling, is that I can't find a birth for him in any of these places.
