Parish of St Thomas

A search for an 1841 census entry came back with a heading of Parish of St Thomas (?"quoad sacra" - not sure of this).  I grew up in Greenock and don't recall a church of St Thomas.  Does anyone know of this and can anyone interpret the Latin?

Quoad sacra means "as far as sacred matters are concerned". It is a term used in Scotland to describe a new parish created from part of an existing one for church purposes. Any civil matters remained with the old parish. It normally happened where the population of an area had increased so much that the parish church could no longer hold the entire congregation. A quoad sacra parish would be created and a new church built for it. It could also happen if an existing parish was very big and the church was not very central. A quoad sacra parish might be created and a church built there so that it would be more convenient for the people of that area to get to worship.
