Anyone help me find the Williams family in 1911 census?
« on: Friday 21 October 16 18:51 BST (UK) »
I'm looking for Thomas Joseph Williams in the 1911 census and really struggling!

Thomas Joseph Williams
born. 1895/6, Cardiff Glam
mar 1918, Great Yarmouth, Norf
occupation Seaman (1918) Merchant navy (1926)

Father William Williams
occupation Boiler something (1918) Seaman (family lore)

A birth record for Thomas would be good too. I THINK his mother was Elizabeth, born in St Clears, Carmarthenshire.

I think that might be right, yes.
Family lore says his mother was Elizabeth and the date fits.
No idea what a donkeyman is!

Unfortunately we are not allowed to do 1911 look ups RootsChat policy.

However have you tried looking at alternative names  -

Joseph Williams/Tom Williams?

You may well have a hit here, but with a name like that you are almost guaranteed one.  Father= William Williams must be almost an evens chance.

I've always counted my blessings in having mostly unusual surnames in my tree .....  Actually - come to think of it - there is a Father= William Williams there too  :D
