Thank you BumbleB and maxD. I may have gone as far as I can unless I can convince my friend to pay and download the couple of medal details that might be Henry from WWI.

What is the possibility of tracing Clara after 1917? Is it possible that details might have been in the local newspapers at the time? Does anyone have access to those?

Frankly I wouldn't waste money downloading medal cards.  There is no way any of the 135 can be identified to the particular Henry Bennett without knowing his service number, even knowing his regiment turns up too many and again, there is no personal identifying detail on the cards

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

The actual birth and death cert. of the child should reveal the father's occupation and his rank and regiment if he was serving in WW1
Or at least that what we found on the death cert of a child in our family who died in 1915. His father's normal trade and his rank and battalion and regiment were on the certificate.
Very useful information, albeit from a very sad event.

Have you tried searching for miltary records in his wife or childs name? I've found some that way after searching for ages for the male name. Are you on Ancestry?

Had a quick look but couldn't find Henry/Harry. Did find an Arthur Hallas though if he's any connection?
