Do you have his 1950 marriage cert,does he name his father and what job he did?
What address was George married from,who were the witnesses?

All could be extra clues in tracking down his birth.

There is a George G C Milne listed in the British Consular Births 1921-25, volume 15 page 245, Cairo

He is still travelling backwards and forwards from school up until at least 1936 and says the country of permanent residence is Egypt.

Yes Margaret F is Vol 16 Page 297 of 1921-25 births and there's a marriage in 1941 to a Mr Morgan.

There's also a Lorna C in 1921-25, Vol 19 Page 376. She's also found in Army Births, Cairo 1925 page 513.

Sounds like his dad was in the Army then? 

Lorna must have been too young to be coming back to England for school like the older 2 did.

It may not be the same family of course but there is a Marian N Milne in army births in Cairo in 1927

I found a ships list in 1948 of a few Milne's coming back from Canada.

Dora age 42 (George's wife) a female child who may still be alive aged 3,and Lorna C aged 23.

Scrap that- see above,my maths isn't very good today!
