Welcome to Rootschat.

If you read the rest of this thread you will see that as yet there is no surnname index.However I understand that volunteers are already working on indexing it in much the same way as the 1901 was done in Canada.

So either you trawl through page by page(which I what I am a small way through doing  ::)) or you wait a while till an index is produced.

the 1911 census will be indexed by volunteers but that may take a while. Do you have any idea where your Gallop family may be? There are other resources that may help.

If you intend to search through the 1911 Canadian Census before the indexing make sure you have the correct spelling of the place you want then search all spellings of the town.
I looked for my families in Thamesville, Kent Co., Ontario & guess what, it didn't exist. So I went further & found it spelled Thomasville, got 'em.
