Marriage - St Mary, Nottingham - 4 October 1853
« on: Wednesday 09 November 16 12:06 GMT (UK) »
I wonder whether anyone has access to the parish records for St Mary, Nottingham?

I'm trying to help a friend in South Africa to put together her family.

From FindMyPast - Nottinghamshire Transcriptions

Robert Mason and Emma Mee - 4 October 1853.

There is nothing on FreeREG, nor on other sites.  I'm interested to confirm Robert and Emma's fathers.  I believe that Emma's is possibly Robert, but would also like to see who Robert's father is.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Are they the couple on the 1861 in Harborne, Staffs. If so it says they were born in Leicestershire.
RG 9; Piece: 2126; Folio: 4; Page: 1

They have a daughter Rosa, there is a baptism for a Robert and his mothers name is Rosetta, Coincidence?? Maybe, but worth checking out.

Marriage cert would be the obvious way of course.

Many thanks, yes I believe that is the couple on the 1861 census.

I'm planning to go to Wigston Record Office soon, so I will definitely check out the Loughborough entries.

But I'm really interested in verifying Emma Mee's father.

Again, many thanks

I've really, REALLY got to see that marriage entry at Nottingham  :o :o

1871 census at Long Whatton:
John Starkey Barrow, 31, Maltster
Emma Barrow, 36, born Diseworth
Louisa Mary Mason, 15 - step daughter, born London
Rosa Amelia Mason, 13 - step daughter, born Nottingham

New GRO Index shows Louisa Mary (1856 - Islington) and Rosa Amelia (1858 - Nottingham) having mother's maiden name of Mee.

BUT marriage entry for John Starkey Barrow and Emma Mason - 20 May 1870 at Matlock (image on FS) says that Emma Mason, aged 30 of Diseworth is a spinster, father is Robert Mason (deceased), farmer.  :o :o
