Hi,
Just came upon your post. The Yanks was a popular bathing spot in the townland of Mahon in Blackrock. The link below is the 1840 Ordnance Survey map. Just toggle down to Cork, move east along the river Lee until you come to Blackrock Castle and then southwards until you come to a little promontary called Ringmahon Point. Just below, you will note a little lane joining the water's edge. That is the Yanks. Girls bathing to the north, boys to the south of the point where the lane meets the water's edge! The lane was called the Yank's bóithrín. I am doing some local history research on the area and would welcome any knowledge you may have about  the name. It is thought to be an early  20th century name perhaps based on a returned 'yank' living there. regards.
