Marriage at Wrenbury in 1863 COMPLETED
« on: Friday 18 November 16 14:22 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone help me with this query.
I am trying to find the father of a Joseph Cartlidge who married in Nantwich registration district in December qtr 1863.
There were two Joseph Cartlidges born in Wrenbury in 1841. One was son of William and Mary and one was son of John and Mary.
One married a Mary ? but which one?
A daughter was born in 1873 named Margaret to one of them.
Has anyone got access to parish registers who can help me as I don't want to have to purchase the certificate.
All I need to know is occupation of Joseph Cartlidge and his father's name.

Afraid you may have to - CheshireBMD shows that the marriages were "Civil Marriage or Registrar Attended".

Margaret's mother's maiden name was Edgeley = 1872

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!
If you don't ask the question, you won't get an answer.

There's no entry on the Cheshire Non-Conformist and RC marriages on FindMyPast

Thanks for your help.
I think I may have to buy the cert or leave Joseph alone as this is the only way I may be able to determine who his father is.

Do you have them both on census prior to the marriage

Yes both Josephs appear upto 1861 with parents but although I think I know which family the Joseph with a daughter called Margaret belongs I have no definite proof.
I have Margaret after marriage but this does not help.
