Elizabeth Jane Grant (nee Jacob)
« on: Saturday 19 November 16 12:57 GMT (UK) »
I’m trying to find out more about one of my 2nd great-grandfathers sister and her family.

What I know so far:

Elizabeth Jane Jacob, born 1857 at Ashford, Kent. Daughter of William Jacob a cordwainer/bootmaker

She married William Grant on 30 June 1874 at St James, Dover.
William is listed as son of Henry Grant. Both listed as labourers

From the GRO index they appear to have had two children:
1)   Amy Elizabeth Grant – born 1879. Birth certificate registered in Gravesend district. She was baptised at Willesborough on 4 April 1880. Fathers occupation given as Fishmonger.
2)   Harry Grant – born 1881. Birth certificate also registered in Gravesend district.

I have not yet been able to find them in the census’ and am struggling to link any extra information to them. Can anyone please help me trace this families movements?

Hi

Daughter of William and Amy.

Yes that is correct, although its the Grant family I'm trying to trace.

There is a family called Clark that seem to fit the bill?

Sorry I do not understand. What are you referring to?

Hi

Did she remarry or live as married with Harry Clark? I say this because the 1911 census says that they had been married 32 years making, by my reckoning, a marriage date of 1879.
Just a thought. Might be pure fabrication of course.
Can you find a death of William Grant prior to 1879?

Good luck
