Landells - New Zealand

I am quite confused about the Landells families in New Zealand, probably by looking at some family trees at MyHeritage.com that may not be very rigorous in adding people?

Reverend William Burns Landells (b. 1811) is my 3rd great grandfather, and his brother Adam born in 1813 appears to have moved to New Zealand - after living some time in Australia; according to my researches, he died in Tauranga, NZ in August 1883.

Perhaps that is another Adam Landells?

The more certain parts of my history of Adam Landells b. 1813 and Rev WB Landells b. 1811 (parents James Landells 1778-1849, Jane Grace Burns 1783-1824) is that Adam married Margaret Douglas in Dumfries, Scotland on 9 Mar 1832 and they had 8 children between 1833 and 1846.
Adam had a total of 3 wives (by my researching).
His first wife, Margaret Douglas 1813-1849 appears to have died at sea, off Teneriffe, Spain.
I think Adam and WB both emigrated to Australia, possibly Adam being the first.
The history of Rev WB Landells is quite well known.

It seems that Adam Landells married again in 1850 in Adelaide, South Australia to Elizabeth Ann Dibbs (b. 1824). Later, his daughter Mary Ann Landells (1841-1859) died in Coburg, Victoria - aged 18, shortly after the birth of ? twin girls, one of whom died about a year later.

However, there seem to be several Douglas/Landells namings in New Zealand after that time - related to Adam Landells / Margaret Douglas sons, James and Edward.

I am not sure whether Adam did at some time move to NZ and if so, whether he married and where lived there. Or is the NZ connection only via his sons James Douglas Landells and Edward Douglas Landells?

and there is several records for:
Adam Landels and his wife Janet Alexander Landels

A probate for 1887, where Adams residence is given as Wellfields, Balclutha in Central Otago Nz.

The bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.govt.nz/Search site lists the following children for Adam and Janet.
Ellen
Mary
James
Alice
John Douglas

Are these the family you are searching for?

There are many news reports and bmd items to confirm the brother of W B LANDELLS, Adam was in Victoria and his obituary here confirms his death in NZ

Thanks @sparrett. I will check Trove some more  - I do know from Trove (?) that WB his brother bought some land and allowed Adam to farm it for a time, in Victoria. I will check trove to see some of the dates and places.

[edit] Confirms separate evidence I had of Adam's death in Tauranga, NZ in 1883.
However, the Elizabeth death implies DOB which disagrees with my separate info, wife Elizabeth Ann DIBBS b. 1824, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada (died in Victoria, Australia).

@ crowsfeet, probably a different family though the John Douglas suggests a connection. The spelling of Landells / Landels / Landelles doesn't necessarily signify a different tribe.

Hi  ... yes the Adam which crowsfeet has given you is not who you are after.  [He was Adam LANDELS - (just one "l") - and was aged 47 years at his death at Balclutha, in 1887.


NZ BDM has this death :

1883 - LANDELLS - Adam - aged 71 years

... incidentally ... there are very many "trees" pertaining to Adam LANDELLS (1813-1883) at ancestry.com website.   Probably worth checking if you have access to the site.
