George Woodcock 1961 & Maria Broughton 1861 Salford 1880 - 1910s
« on: Friday 25 November 16 12:13 GMT (UK) »
George Woodcock (1861 son of John Woodcock & Sarah Antcliffe) married Maria Broughton (1862 daughter of William Broughton & Ann Slater) on 12 Dec 1880 in Manchester.

They had 12 children (1911 states married 30 years 12 children 10 alive 2 died so I have them all)
(1) George 1882  - 1882 Chorlton/Salford
(2) Reuben 1883 Salford - 1931 (possible marriage to Mary Fairclough in Barnsley 1928 with 1 x M issue)
(3) Henry 1886 - 1889 Leeds
(4) John 1888 Leeds - 1948 Nova Scotia
(5) Emily 1889 Leeds ADDED: married James Cars in 1910, had a son in 1911 & emigrated to Queensland in 1933, returned in 1962 with a young male Woodcock, a possible grandson, aged 6)
(6) Alfred Artcliff (sic) 1891 Leeds (marriage to Elizabeth Pollitt 1920 no issue found; ADDED Elizabeth may have died in 1925 aged 29, Arthur then married Ethel White in 1925)
(7) Selina 1893 Leeds (marriage to James Lloyd in 1913)
[8] Sarah Amelia 1895 Leeds (marriage to Fred Renshaw 1915)
(9) William 1896 Leeds (marriage to Sarah Bolton 1924 no issu found)
(10) Mary Edith 1900 Salford (marriage to Norman Parry 1924)
(11) Sophia 1903 Manchester (marriage to James Pollitt 1922)
(12) Edward 1905 Manchester - 1970 Stockport [ADDED:married Agnes Gretton Griffiths  in 1929]

I am helping a friend with his family; he is descended from John 1888 who emigrated to Nova Scotia in 1906 - so we have all this branch of the family. I am interested in putting said friend in touch with any living members of his British Woodcock family.

I am researching issue of any definite marriages at the moment. Can anyone with knowledge of any definite descendants of these 10 children please PM me; they may still be alive so please do not mention names on the forum.

Many thanks, Josey

ADDED: at the moment I do not have access to the 1939 register, but will try when there is an offer   ;)

The 1939 National Register is free to search the indexes ;D
You only have to pay to look at details.

Thank you both for the ideas, will go to both sites when back from w/e away..

I think I was hoping to be lazy & that someone would recognise the names  ;) but being lazy is not the name of the game is it  ;D - or the fun.
