*COMPLETED* Is there a way someone could access my emails?
« on: Wednesday 07 December 16 16:34 GMT (UK) »
Hi Folks,

I recently posted regarding my emails, being able to send but not receive which is still the case as my email was hacked.

I opened a new email very recently (which I haven't used to contact anyone), have just signed in as I was going to send an email & this is the message I received....

"Your account has been temporarily suspended
Someone may have used your account to send out a lot of junk messages or done something else that violates the Microsoft Services Agreement"

I haven't given anyone my new email address yet i.e. I am at a loss?

Which email service do you use?
And how do you access emails?

Are you using the same email service for both old & new email accounts?

Hi KG,

Old e was hotmail, new e outlook.

I have to log in on my laptop using my password if that helps?

I have now got into it by a code sent via text.

Driving me crazy as I don't know how anyone could send anything as I haven't sent or received any e's since I opened it.

The same thing has happened to others with new accounts, see here..

I suspect it might simply be Microsoft's method of ensuring they get people's phone numbers as the "Someone may have used your account to send out a lot of junk messages or done something else..." is all a bit vague and catch-all.

Regardless, I'd suggest changing your email account password and running a full virus scan just for peace of mind.

M :)

Personally I won't use Microsoft for emails? Don't trust them! :o

I would suggest using Gmail, or (my preference) GMX?
Or something similar.

And consign Microsoft to the Waste Bin! ;D

Thanks Matthew, I believe this to be the case...a bit of scaremongering though!

Thanks KG,

Will sure look into that as I've had/having probs with mine.

The old hotmail was changed to outlook.   They're both the same.   You need to try yahoo or gmail or something different.   AOL will still work.

I suggest gmail and using that it means that it doesn't matter which browser you use, or even if you change your PC, you can still send and receive emails.  Also, if you accidentally delete emails from your PC/laptop as I've done - very easy to do just press Ctrl and Delete at the same time - you can still see them on gmail itself under "All emails" and if necessary resend them to yourself.

I have friends who used to use Yahoo and I was always getting scam e-mails apparently sent by them.  Ditto e-mails from friends who used to use BT.
