Mothers maiden name is Steele

I suppose there could have been a marriage in Scotland or Ireland.

Or father Joseph was indiscreet with a MURRAY girl but later took the babe.

There is a Canadian death certificate for Joseph (1907) here which is consistent with registration in Q4 1907 -
