Help with finding Nicholson parents 1880s

I need help with finding the parents of these children (all born Middlesbrough):

James b. 1877
Edward b. 1883
Thomas b. 1885
Harry b. 1886
Maria b. 1888 d. 1890
Mary Louisa b. 1891 d. 1895

I got all information from GRO, with the mmn being Simpson. I have looked at census records, but can't seem to find any matches. I have no idea whether their parents married in Yorkshire (most likely) or elsewhere.

Help would be appreciated

What were their parents names & have you found them on any censuses?

I don't know their names and I can't find them on the censuses. All I know is that their mmn is Simpson. I am directly related to Harry Nicholson, and when I couldn't find him on any censuses other than the 1911 one with his wife and family, I looked on GRO and found his brothers and sisters.

Not sure where Harry  is but they supposedly had 11 children and I can only see 4 on the censuses.

I have seen the marriage and censuses for Edward and Elizabeth Ann, but I didn't think they were who I was looking for. I have looked on GRO for George Nicholson and missed him in the list because the birth wasn't registered in Middlesbrough like the others, but in Stockton. Also, none of the other children are with them in the censuses, which is why I don't think they are the right ones.

In the 1911 census, Harry is a bricklayer and his wife is Eva Thompson. They married in Middlesbrough, 1909.

1891 has a ransdom Harry of the right age with Uncle and Aunt in Hull, Says birthplace Hull, but maybe an error - would explain why not with parents in 1891.

You really need Harry marriage cert to see who he names as his father. I wouldn't rule out the Edward and Elizabeth yet - if Harrys marriage cert gives father as Edward a blacksmith then they will be strong contenders! If it says something completely different, THEN they can be ruled out!

Also - you are making an assumption that these other births are siblings of "your" Harry - it is possible there were two Nicholson/Simpson combinations having children at the same time. So even if you find the other children with parents on a census (as with the Edward/Eliz) you cant be 100% sure they are Harry's parents too.    Marriage cert has to be the next step.  And maybe to find baptisms of the children to ascertain parents names of each?
