St Alphage Greenwich 1825
« on: Monday 19 December 16 12:25 GMT (UK) »
Hi could someone look up a marriage for me? Frederick Whittenbury = Mary Shanks 13 June 1825, St alphage Greenwich.
I know they didn't put much details on them, but if by chance it had age & occupation it would help, also the names of any witness.
Thanks in advance

No age or occupation I'm afraid. He was a bachelor and she was a spinster both of that parrish and the marriage was by banns. Witnesses Charles Crance? and Charlotte Sedgwick.

Hi,
You said you have him on the 1841 census. He is also on the 1851 with the same housekeeper, Mary Twineham. On the 1841 he indicated he was born in Middlesex but on the 1851 he says Kent. However, the place name is difficult to read as it seems to be initials. He is still a carpenter journeyman and born c1787.

Is this his death, if so he should be on the 1861?

Fredk Whittenbury
Estimated birth year:   abt 1782 aged 83
Death Date:   9 Oct 1865
Death Place:   Hackney, England

It looks as if he died in Hackney Workhouse.

Thank you both for that, I had not seen the 1851 or his death, Strange that I never found it on the BMD site. Were the names on both spelt Whittenbury?

Looking at Freebmd, I'm not surprised you couldn't find it!  ;D

Ancestry certainly indexed him as Wittenbury on the 1851.
