High Street, Annan early 1800's
« on: Monday 19 December 16 12:35 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone know where I can get a photograph of the Bank Street, Annan, early 1800's. Have looked on-line with no joy.

Would like to see where the Shoemaker's shop was.

Hi ,

I would think you would very lucky to find photographs of Annan this early.
Searching the 1841 Census for occupation "photo" on FreeCEN gives no results , in 1851 it gives 19 returns.

Didn't think I would get a photograph but was worth a try.

Will have a look at the 1851 census. Thank you.

I've downloaded a lot of old Annan postcards from eBay but none show a shoemaker's shop. Good way of finding vintage images though.

Yes, I imagine it is a good way of finding vintage images.

Are there any Blacksmiths amongst your collection of postcards - High Street, I think.

cristeen,

Thank you very much for the 1880/ 1890's photographs of the High Street, Annan. It is lovely to see them and go back in time, to visualise where my ancestors lived and the clothes they wore  ;)

Kind regards
