I thought that Binch is quite a unusual surname but it seems its not that unusual in Notts!

Possible baptism for Ellen Binch in Mansfield in 1801, daughter of George and Ellen Binch. There are only 2 baptisms for this couple, Ellen and a son in 1812 - an unusual gap, I wonder if the info is incomplete. George Binch m Ellen Gregory in 1798.

(all events in Mansfield so far!)

There are Binch baptisms in Mansfield back as far as 1688; the crowders were latecomers, the first baptism being 1786.

Thanks Annie. really appreciate your help   I.   have come across the name Binch in Notts before     I was looking for Gertrude's father. Frederick Wright b1876 Whittington Derby  the only likely  one I can find  is for a Frederick. 1876 mother Elizabeth Wright. which suggests to me that he was illegitimate. What do you think ?  Regards. Tineke

Possibly -- but I don't have resources to check for Derbyshire, perhaps try posting on the Derbyshire board?
