rock/rocks
« on: Thursday 29 December 16 23:04 GMT (UK) »
Hi
Looking for help in clearing up a possible find in my family tree,Margaret Kilpatrick b31jul1868 Belfast married Felix Rock 26oct1891 Johnstone Scotland mmarriage cert shows his age as 24 and his parents as Peter and Eliz so his birth abt 1867,on the 1901 and 1911 Scottish census it shows him born Durham Eng. Free BMD shows a birth in 1867 for a Felix but on the 1861 and 1871 census there is a listing for a Peter and Eliz. with a son Francis age 1 in 1861 and 11 in 1871.Is it possible that these ages are wrong and that Francis is Felix ? there are other Rock/Rocks listed at the same address ,maybe relitives.thanks for any help

If you look at the 1871 census it seems to have both Francis and Felix on and so this implies that Francis is the elder brother of Felix. Francis is actually born 1858 from what i see in the GRO indexes

Peter Rock   42
Elizabeth Rock   40
Francis Rock   11
Mary Ann D   9
Felix D   4
Patrick D   6 Months
Felix Rock   44
James Murray   25
Charles Murray   23
Terence Caney   24
Michael Mc Kenna   19
James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.

Hi davidft and trish1120
Thx for your help ,I think I had another senior moment,i thought I was looking at the 1871 census but it was the 1861 one and of course Felix wasn't there yet so now I see him in 1871 as a 4yr old that ties in with his birth in 1867,it looks like m/s Toner is correct for Eliz it looks like Tonner on the marriage cert for Felix so it looks like I have the correct family,Felix and Margaret and there children moved from Scotland to the USA,thanks once again
Hughie
