Tasmanian Death Certificates
« on: Sunday 01 January 17 03:21 GMT (UK) »
Can someone please tell me what information is contained on a 1979 Tasmanian Death Certificate.  I have searched the Tasmanian Government sites but if the info is there, I'm afraid I couldn't find it.  There is information on what is recorded in much earlier years, but not later years.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Pat.

Hi Pat,  If you have a month of death in 1979 I could probably find a Death Notice in one of our Tassie newspapers for you, and the deceased's name.

Hi,
Thank you for your offer of help.  We have found the date of death and notices for the person we think is my husbands father.  We just wanted to know if deceased parents would be on the death certificate, as that would be the only way we could be sure we have the right person.
Cheers
Pat.

Hi Pat,  Beware, before ordering Tasmanian Death Certificates.  My experience has shown Tasmania does not record Parents names if the deceased was married.  Parents names only recorded if the deceased was unmarried.  I realise this is contrary to Merlin's information to you, and my apologies to Merlin, however be quite sure before you buy.  Personal experience with this.  NSW provides the most comprehensive of all Australian states -- NSW follows the Scottish system of recording.
Kind regards

Hi again,
thank you for the warning re Tas. Certs.  From what I understand people who knew this person didn't know he had been  married years before in England.  I'm hoping his executor may have had his birth certificate, as this is the only way we are going to be sure we have found the right person.
Cheers,
Pat.
