Tewkesbury Register newspaper
« on: Monday 02 January 17 14:48 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I wonder if anyone could help me with a query. I am researching my husbands family and I have found an article online which mentions his Grandfather Matthew John White. In the article it mentions that he wrote letters  back to Tewkesbury from the front in World War One. These were as far as I can gather printed in the paper The Tewkesbury Register. The article mentioned that he provided the first detailed account of the Retreat from Mons in August 1914. Although it didnt appear in the paper until 7th November that year.
I wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction as to how I might find out how to access the record of this.
I live too far from Tewkesbury to go in person.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Angelgirl.

Try contacting the Tewkesbury Historical Society, whose website is www.ths.freeuk.com (email address near foot of home page). One of the projects they have is indexing the Register, and I know that they have already done much of WW1.
