Folks,
Mary Ann Widger c 1831 in Totnes may be the daughter of Richard and Ann though i have been unable to find online records to confirm this. Can anyone confirm my suspicion, please?

Try looking for her baptism as Marianne WIDGER.

She appears to have married in 1855 so a copy of her marriage cert will confirm her fathers name

Have searched just using surname, nothing from Totnes on Freereg, blanks on familysearch,Ancestry and Archersoftware. No OPC for Totnes.
1841 census was where i had her parent's names.
1855 marriage is for a 30 yo woman according to familysearch. My lady married George Ireland in Newton Abbott (probably Ashburton where they lived and died) in 1864.
She is a very distant relative of my wife and is well down the list of certificates to buy,but maybe one day!
Thank you both.

Hi I have been looking at the 1871 census where Mary Ann is now married to a 74 year old George Ireland, I do not know if you have checked out the Niece aged 4, but she appears to be registered as Sarah Mary Widger June qtr 1866 Newton Abbott 05B 126 Mothers maiden name Matterface, their is a marriage in Stoke D Sept qtr 1865 ( it was 2nd July 1865 St Mary, Devonport) of a William Frederick Widger to a Fanny Campion Matterface.

This would seem to suggest that Mary Ann had a brother William Frederick?

EDIT also living in Ashburton were twins Frederick and Fanny Widger both aged 6 months living with a William and Elizabeth Martin and family.

Keyboard,
Fanny Campion Widger death recorded Oct Qtr 1870 hence Sarah is with her aunt in census,John Campion Matterface and family are their neighbours.
Public trees have no baptisms of Mary Ann or siblings and missed Sarah completely,William re-married in 1874 and had more children.
Might chase up what became of Sarah Mary. She died in 1875.
Thanks,
Eric
