Unfortunately these early Irish Catholic records are sadly lacking in details, so what you see, is what you get.  You can likely assume that Bernard is Ellen's brother or perhaps her father if he's asking as a godfather.

Eileen thanks for that. Will keep looking for the Fagans. Recently found Felix had a brother John born 1839 but only states born Ireland.

Notice the spelling of Fahan.  I also saw Feighan in the records.
