The ship Jupiter to Australia in 1822
« on: Wednesday 01 February 17 07:24 GMT (UK) »
Greetings,

I am looking for a passenger list and confirmation of an Elizabeth Marshall who is said to have been a free passenger on the Jupiter, which sailed 1822.

She definitely wasn't a convict.

She was Scottish, hence posting on this forum.

But if she came steerage, she may not be named.

Do you know which port in Australia?

It looks like the Brig Jupiter (Cptn Martin) spent a good part of the 1820s going between Sydney (Port Jackson) and Tasmania.  Would this have been the same ship or was there another one?

Kirsty

edit: The Ship Jupiter sailed from England 2nd June and arrived Sydney 25th November 1823 (having come via the Cape and Hobart)

The passengers included women and families of convicts and 12 females from the Guardian Society. Is it possible that Elizabeth was one of them?

The vessel Jupitor arr. from England and Hobart under Captain Park. Sailed from London 2nd June calling at the Cape. Passengers included a number of women and families sent out by govt., to join their relatives; together with 12 females from the Guardian Soc., and 15 pensioned non-commissioned officers and soldiers of the Royal Artillery to occupy situations of superintendents in NSW and VDL.
