Searching for David
« on: Friday 03 February 17 16:26 GMT (UK) »
I have a passenger record for a David Cotter arriving Ellis Island 6th May 1903 Ship Ivernia Single going to a Denis O Connell 446W 25th St New York. His age is given as 36yrs place of last residence Midleton Co Cork.  My relative David would have been 26yrs but when I checked 1901 Irl census my david is the only one in Midleton age 24. This leads me to the possibility that the age on manifest is not correct.  I am interested in any info on David after his arrival in NY. Thank you.

This appears to be the David Cotter who arrived in 1903, in which case the age on the manifest was correct:

Hi Sandra, have been searching for years for David - strangely no baptism or civil record for him - have for rest of his siblings. Father Maurice Cotter Mother Elizabeth Gear/Guiry (different versions on all baptism records of family.  So I thought the passenger record could have been him even with difference in age.  As I said he was the only David in 1901 in midleton age 24 - then again his age may have been incorrect in census as all his siblings were born from 1857/1863. tks
