Thanks max. Where would I find the list of names? My grandparents were associated with St. John's church, Ivy St

On Findmypast, I used the search term "Burnley cadets" in the keyword box.  I limited the search initially to 1920 to 1929 just to see what happened!  I find hits begin in 1918 although by the end of the 1930s they are referring to army or RAF cadets.

If you don't have FindMyPast then maybe your local library subscribes to it or to the British Newspaper Archive.

If you want to post a name and time frame associated with the cadets I'll have a look for you, its raining again!

Thanks maxD. Any ideas how I go about trying to date the photo? Does anyone know about Brunton? I have another photo of my grandparents, the date I do know, is 1932. This is also taken by Brunton, and on a post card, but this time his lettering stamp is in the middle of the back and ' artist' is added. There is no name on the front as in my first photo. Many thanks.

John Robert Brunton photographer of Park Lane Studio Ightenhill Burnley.  Google will give you some hits to play with.  Seems to have been active in the Great War and beyond to the 20s perhaps 30s.  I'll pass on dating, that is for the experts!

Thanks to everyone for all their work in trying to solve my query. I have been advised by a expert in this field on the Great War Forum, that the picture probably relates to the early 1920's. Thanks again.
