One more street name?
« on: Friday 10 February 17 01:16 GMT (UK) »
Since you all go that last one so quickly, can you try one more.
This one is from 1851 Census for Kempston, Bedfordshire. It looks like Up End?

There's lots of places around there with the word "End" ( Box End, West End, Wood End etc)
Thanks again

According to Wikipedia the Urban District of Kempston was "......based on East End, Up End and Kempston New Town all of which are in the northeastern part of the parish......."

Up End as a general location looks right to me.

So, would "Up End" be like a neighborhood or area in Kempston, rather than a street? I had been trying to look it up as a street or road.

That's how I see it, more like a district or area rather than a street.

This the version from the Enumerator's Walk.

End place names are common in Herts, Essex and Middlesex meaning an outlying hamlet.
Crabb from Laurencekirk / Fordoun and Scurry from mid Essex
