No sign of John's baptism via Yorkshire BTs, North Yorkshire baptisms, or North Yorkshire non-confirmist records, currently available on FindMyPast.  Sorry  :'(

Hi

The only 1851 entry with that birthplace was born 1794 and married to Jane.  Is this your John?  Children Thomas 20  Henry 16 Mark 13

Same person in 1861 - birthyear 1800??  1851 image could be read as age 51 or 57

1871 - birthyear 1798

Death 1876 - age 76 so back to birthyear 1800

16 February 1800 - Kirby Knowle - John LOFTUS son of Joseph and Mary of Bagby, Labourer - born 15 February 1800.

Sounds very likely.  Thank you for looking.  The surname is such a minefield for spelling! :)
