Disappearing great aunt
« on: Sunday 12 February 17 10:32 GMT (UK) »
Eliza Butti born in Oct - Dec 1864 in Liverpool, England son of George and Eliza. Appears in 1871 census then seems to disappear from view. Can't find any marriage or death certificate for her.

In 1871 she is in Glasgow under mis spelt surname Butha.

Any help or suggestions please. Thank you .

She there with her parents in 1881 -  surname mis-transcribed, would have to see original to see if it was enumerated correctly.

1881: 20 India Place (3rd Floor) St George, Midlothian

Ref: 685/1, ED 108, Page 2, HS 12, Page 2
Head: George BUTH 44 House painter, b Edinburgh
Wife: Eliz'th BUTH 45, b Edinburgh
Dau: Elizabeth 16, Book Folder, b Liverpool, England
Son: Louis BUTH 9, Scholar, b Glasgow, LNK
Son: James BUTH 6, Scholar, b Glasgow, LNK

You may or may not already have this - again this is a transcription, so actual image may show spelling differently:

This looks parents in 1891:
15 Church Place, Milton, Glasgow (St George in the Fields), Lanarkshire.
Ref:  644/8, ED 36, Page 5, HS 32
Head: George BEATTIE 54, Unemployed House Painter, b Edinburgh MDL
Wife: Eliza BEATTIE 53 b Edinburgh MDL

[Edit:
SP have a death registered 1881 in St George,Midlothian  of : Elizabeth BUTTI, age 46, Apparently this is George's sister]

Her two younger brothers, Louis & James are here:
1891: Wellington Reformatory Farm School, Near Penicuik, Midlothian
Ref: 697 Page: 2 / Line: 7 and Line 23
Louis BUTTIE 19, Scholar, b Glasgow LNK
James BUTTIE 16, Scholar, b Glasgow LNK

Have you followed the 3 brothers, George, Louis and James  and got marriages - always a chance an "Eliza" or "Elizabeth" may pop up as a witness.

Cheers

Hadnt found them in 1891. Elizabeth aged 46 will have a look. I often think she must have died and they have mos-spelled the surname.

I edited my reply just a second ago. Apparently the Elizabeth who died 1881 was George's sister, not his wife (Tree on A**Y)

George died age 58, in 1896, Registered in Kelvin, Glasgow, Lanarkshire. Again the deaths may reveal an informant who is a noted as 'daughter'?

Looks like George's wife also died in 1896. SP Index:

Eliza BUTTI age 60, registered Kelvin, Glasgow, Lanarkshire.
