Ancestors of Louise in Newfoundland
« on: Sunday 12 February 17 19:18 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for ancestral data (as well as more personal data) with sources (if possible) for my daughter in law's great-grandmother.  Her married name was Louise Richards (born 1907 in Newfoundland, Canada and died 26 Apr 1983 in Boston Massachusetts). she was married to Howard Dominic Richards (born 18 Feb 1900 in Hants, Nova Scotia, Canada and died Jul 1968 in Somerville Massachusetts). Additionally, I have Louise naturalized in 1923.

Thanks,
Dave

On the declaration of intention for Howard Richards it says they were married 12 October 1929 Somerville Massachusetts.

Look for the name Louise on the Massachusetts marriage index with the same reference as Howard Duncan Richards - Marriage Year 1929 - Marriage Place Medford, Massachusetts, USA
Index Volume Number:   103 - Reference Number:   F63.M36 v.103

Sandra and Christine53, thanks to both of you!  This is certainly a start!  It's amazing that I can search on the same/similar sites and couldn't come up with the data.  If you are able to find more about Louise's exact birth/death and/or her parentage, I would appreciate it!

Just for clarity's sake, Newfoundland did not become a part of Canada until 1949.  At the time when Louise was born, it was a British colony.

I found an entry record for an Allan Parsons in 1919 from Harbour Grace into the US with his wife Janet which shows they weren't allowed in (debarred).  They were bound for Medford, Mass., so makes me wonder if this is Louise's brother.  I also found the marriage of Allan Parsons in Harbour Grace to Janet Osborne on November 25, 1915. The witnesses are Duncan and Minnie Parsons.

eileenwilson, do you have web urls that you could include for the debarrment and the marriage?

I was able to conclude that Allan Parsons (b. 1894) was Louise's brother with Edwin Parson (1856-1907) and Mary George (1859-?) as her parents and a Minnie Parsons [married name] (1886-?) married to Louise's brother Leonard Parsons (1886-1919). I haven't run across a Duncan yet.
