In 1933 Mrs. Martha A. Moore, Imperial Hotel, Garvagh, was summoned for a breach of the licensing regulations

it does appear that Hugh never owned the Hotel and at best may have just worked there.

Just one of those stories that got expanded over the years

There is a Hugh Mullan, aged 28, on the passenger list of the "Furnessia" sailing from Derry to NY 13/02/1909.
His occupation is given as shopkeeper. He gives his marital status as single so he may not be our man...

The dates are good...James was born 24/09/1909.

This looks like the birth of the bartender...but "our" Hugh was married at full age in 1904 when this Hugh was 15

Hello Mary, I was just wondering about these Mullans.  We have been told that the King's youngest daughter was reared by Mullans who owned a Pub in Dungiven and that they were related to the Boylans.  We heard that they didn't have any other children and took the Baby Jeannie following her mother's death in childbirth in 1913.  Could this be the same Mullans?

Hi Mary, I know Sharon well but initially Sharon thought her grandmother was brought up by Presbyterians.  We have spoken to older members of the Boylan Family who believe Jeannie was brought up by the Mullans? There was a photograph in the Gelvin book of. Jeannie Mullan but I need to check if the ages are the same.  Was just wondering.  Thanks for the information you sent earlier - what year was thus and what newspaper?  How do you find all this! It makes great reading so thanks again

I thought that she was brought up by James and Bridget Mullan(nee O'Mullan) I heard that mentioned years ago when I was trying to find out about the Dunany O'Kanes.
