Hi, I am needing some help to clarify my DNA matching. My GGGrandfather was Thomas Gwilliam b. 1811 at Goodrich, Herefordshire, at this time I believe that he is son of William Gwilliam & Margaret Matthews, who were married on the 1st September 1779 at Pencoyd.
I have had contact from a lady, she is 4th cousin matched to my DNA, she comes down the line of our Thomas Gwilliam's elder brother, John Gwilliam b. 1800 Goodrich. However looking at her tree, she shows John's parents as John & Mary Gwilliam. Now I am quite confused.
I need someone that could check out Parish Records for me please. I have always believed that our Thomas Gwilliam had the following siblings, John B. 1800, Mary b. 1803, James 1814, William b. 1814, George b 1817 and Ann b. 1820 all born at Goodrich, except for Ann born at Hentland.
This lady's tree shows John Gwilliam as being tried for horse stealing and was given a death penalty, commuted to 14 years transport to NSW. There are various spellings for Gwilliam, he is sometimes shown as Gullum, or Gillium, fairly normal for those early days. However when John died at Windsor in Australia, his surname was Gullum, and this followed through with their children here in Australia.
I would really appreciate any help with the Parish records, to confirm that we are definite 4th cousins. Thanking you. jan
